My Bio
I'm a retired squid (US Navy) living on an island between Seattle WA and Vancouver BC. I started photography as a means to record my journey through my Navy career, now it's a creative outlet.
Between living in the midst of this natural wonderland and my travels to various locations around the globe (Antarctica, Sicily, Japan, Wake island, Hawaii, Portugal, etc.) I have had the opportunity to photograph some fantastic locations.
I've done lots of landscapes and I'm satisfied with that expereince. I've done several personal shoots for friends over the years and have recently been attempting to expand that expereince.
So, currently I'm experimenting, trying new things, and trying to find my niche. Not an easy task, primarily shooting people is very difficult. Then taking the concepts I see clearly in my mind and making them images is never easy in whatever medium. Add on I have various ideas that range from classic photography to plain out fook'n wierd, it's been interesting to say the least.
But, in the end I'm having fun, I've met some fantastic people, and if I can produce some images that people enjoy I've done something.

While I can appreciate the work that goes into a photorealistic digital model, it's just,... Meh. They are getting fkkn awesome in the detail, to the point some are hard to tell if it's just a retouched/manipulated photo, or 100% generated. It's some awesome tech, but it just isn't the same. But hey, unlike the random screen caps from porn (really people? This is "art"?), at least rendering digital models requires some skill. For now anyway, AI is rapidly making that too easy to call a skill as well. If I ever missed film,... The pain of 35mm is becoming a fond memory.

So for obvious reasons, some of those plans to shoot I mentioned in my Dec 2019 post fell apart,... Odd, I know. But I did manage a couple little things here and there, just nothing major. I need to get a couple images cleaned up and posted. I have some new model material, and I just did a 3,800 mile trip and took a couple shots from my truck, but I really want to find someone local to shoot with. I have even been reaching out for couples that are interested in doing some low-key shadow sets together. Never done a couple in that manner, should be fun, *if* anyone steps up. Cant hurt to ask anyway.

Dude,... Anyone else feel exceedingly out of practice after this whole pandemic madness?? I haven't shot a set with anyone since,... Um, I dunno. Too flippin long either way! Looked it up, 2 years ago when I did the last set with Sally at the beginning my furlough. Yeesh,... Time to get out there again, dodge monkey pox, and make some new art!!

thank you for the fav.

Hi, saw your profile on Model Mayhem.  I want to thank you for your service in the U.S. Navy (navy brat but I joined the Army for 6 years).  I also lived in Japan and noticed you've been there.  That's my home for 18 years.  I also live on our beautiful and quiet island.  I enjoyed your gallery and wondering if you're going to Oyster Run next month?
Howdy!  Crazy timing, I haven't been on DA for a couple months.
Thank you for the sentiment, I had a long love/hate relationship with the canoe club, but in the end I find I miss it.  I suppose doing anything for 20 years will mold your expectations tho, I hope to grow out of it.  :D
I am going to the Oyster Run, aside from those times I was out of state we never miss it.  More like an annual holiday than just an event.  Great day of people watching and sweet machines.
Thank you very much for the Favourite! :camera:
Not a problem, it's a beautifull image
Thanks for adding Contorted to your Favourites :+fav:
